Cynthia O’Mahony

Cynthia is a native of St. Augustine and a graduate of St. Joseph’s Academy. She has been a member of our team since 2010. Cynthia is also a Registered Radiology Technician. From a young age, Cynthia has had a great love of animals. As a child, she would volunteer to walk her neighbor’s dogs and has worked and lived on a farm. She has ridden horses for years, both for pleasure and competition. Cynthia is a skilled veterinary assistant/technician and a client service specialist. Cynthia is a vital piece in the smooth operation of the hospital. She is also the Practice Manager of the hospital. In her spare time, Cynthia enjoys traveling, hiking and spending time with her husband Eldon and son Conor. She has two German Wire Haired Pointers, Brenner and Banks.

Jeanie Day

Jeanie was born and raised in St. Augustine. She is a St. Augustine High School graduate. She is proud of her Menorcan heritage. Jeanie became a member of our team while attending St. Johns River State College in 1987. Jeanie is a highly skilled veterinary technician/assistant. She is a team leader. She has experience with all areas of the hospital. Jeanie has also accepted the role as a mentor/trainer to our new employees. She has a way of putting clients at ease when she is in the room. Jeanie and her husband Jim have been married since 1993 and they have two beautiful daughters, Jamie and Jennifer. Both of Jeanie’s daughters share her love of animals and both are also part of the Antigua family. In her spare time, she enjoys fishing, going to the beach and spending time with her family, especially her precious granddaughter, Brynlee. Jamie has a lab named Goose.

Justin Moros

Justin was born in Bayshore, NY, but has lived in St. Augustine since he was 4 years old. Justin is a St. Augustine High School graduate. He has been a member of our team since 2005. He is a skilled veterinary assistant/technician where he enjoys forming lasting relationships with our clients and their pets. Animals respond well to his light-hearted, nurturing approach. His love of animals shows through on a daily basis and is the reason many clients ask for him by name. Justin has 2 sons, Gavin and Landon. He enjoys surfing, fishing and camping. Justin is a huge sports fan, in particular the New York Giants and New York Mets. He currently has 3 American Staffordshire Terriers, Goose, Henry and Miss Beef.

Amelia Wood

Amelia was born in Bloomington, Indiana.  She moved to St. Augustine in 2012.  Amelia has worked as a veterinary technician in Florida, North Carolina, Indiana and New Jersey.  She is a skilled veterinary assistant/technician.  Amelia has a kind, compassionate heart that is comforting to all our patients and their owners.  She goes through great lengths to take care of all our patient’s needs.  Amelia has three dogs, Silas (Labrador Retriever), Cain (Hound mix) and Mancho (Chihuahua).  In her free time she likes to kayak and hike with her dogs and spend time with her fiancé, Casey.

Casey Walters

Casey is a St. Augustine native. She has over 17 years experience in the veterinary field. Helping animals and caring for those in need are Casey’s true passions in life. Casey is a skilled veterinary assistant/technician. She is a huge asset to our team and a bright light, always with a cheery smile. Casey is a team player that is always up for a challenge and constantly going the extra mile. In Casey’s free time she enjoys spending time with her beautiful daughter Jaiden, fiancé Amelia and her Boxer Hattie.

Alyssa Dominguez

Alyssa was born in Rockford, Illinois and graduated from Muldrow High School in Oklahoma. Alyssa’s passion for animals started at a young age, from dogs to horses. When she was 14, a close family friend organized and started an animal rescue, and this is when Alyssa realized she wanted to devote her life to helping all animals. Alyssa moved to St. Augustine in 2020 and started working at a pet boarding resort. She joined the Antigua Veterinary Practice team in 2021 as one of our kennel/veterinary assistants. Alyssa has always loved helping any fur baby she meets. She takes care of all patients as if they are her own. All our boarders love all the attention and love Alyssa gives. In her free time, Alyssa enjoys spending time with her boyfriend, friends and all her fur babies. Fun fact: Alyssa’s favorite animal is a killer whale.

Abby Mullis

Abby joined Antigua as a veterinary assistant in 2004. She was raised in Jacksonville but relocated to St. Augustine in 2018 to pursue her studies at Flagler College. Initially embarking on a career as a preschool teacher, Abby decided to follow her passion for animals, leading her to transition into the veterinary field. She continually seeks to expand her knowledge and enjoys learning new skills.

Abby’s pets include a trio of kitties – Ginger Snap, Snickerdoodle, and Chocolate Chip—as well as her rescue pup, Dahlia, and her bearded dragon, Fleetwood Mac. In her free time she can be found on adventures with her family, visiting theme parks with her wife and son, or taking her dog to the beaches and springs around Florida.

Ciara Timmons

Ciara has had a life-long love for animals. After graduating from Thomasville High School in Thomasville, GA, she attended the University of Georgia where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in animal science. After completing her schooling, she relocated to the beautiful city of St. Augustine, where she has called home since 2012. Before joining Antigua Veterinary Practice, she worked for 3 years at an emergency animal hospital as a veterinary technician/assistant. With her skill set, Ciara joined the practice in 2016 as a veterinary technician/assistant and receptionist. Ciara is a problem solver who is always upbeat and positive ready for any challenge the day brings. She looks forward to each new day of connecting with our clients and soaking in the love from all of our wonderful, furry patients. Ciara’s own furry family includes a one-eyed Papillon, Lady.

Jennifer Day

Jennifer was born and raised in St. Augustine. She is a graduate of Daytona State College. She has had a passion for animals since a very young age and fell in love with her job as a veterinary assistant/technician very quickly. Jennifer is always there to help and jumps in wherever she is needed. She’s a team player and always puts clients first. When you can get Jennifer away from the clinic, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Josias. She also enjoys fishing, both inshore and offshore, and jet skiing. Jennifer has a dog named Rocky, cat named Kiiwii, and a brood of chickens.

Brandi Burchfield

Brandi was born and raised in St. Augustine along with her family. Her passion for animals developed at a young age around horses, which was followed by all animals. Brandi is a graduate from St. Augustine High School where she was on the varsity volleyball team. She continued her education at St. Johns River State College in hopes of pursuing nursing. She made the decision that animals were her passion, and she has not looked back. Brandi joined Antigua in 2022 as a receptionist and veterinary assistant. She spends her free time coaching volleyball, fishing on the boat, and spending time with family. She also loves doing anything involving her two Fox Red Labs named Hazel and Honey, that are her whole world.

Carissa Wathen

Carissa is a dedicated receptionist with a passion for animals that has guided her career in the veterinary industry for many years. Her love for animals blossomed during her childhood in Nashville, TN, where she shadowed one of her favorite veterinarians and discovered her calling. Driven by her desire to make a difference in the lives of animals and their owners, Carissa has honed her skills, providing compassionate care and exceptional service to every client who walks through the door. Her warm demeanor and genuine love for animals create a welcoming atmosphere in the clinic, putting both pets and their owners at ease. In pursuit of being closer to family, Carissa made the decision to relocate to St. Augustine and joined Antigua in 2023. Here, she continues to pursue her passion for animal care while enjoying the beautiful surroundings and vibrant community. Outside of work, Carissa treasures spending time with family and friends. She is also a devoted pet parent to her two cats: Baby Z and Alice, and her two dogs: Oliver and Millie.

Selina Pitts

Selina joined Antigua as a receptionist in 2022. Since a young age, Selina has had a love for animals, and they have remained an integral part of her life. Whether it’s caring for her own pets or providing love and support to furry friends in need, her bond with animals is unwavering. Selina was born and raised here in historic St. Augustine and graduated from St. Augustine High School. Throughout her life, she has embarked on various adventures, living in diverse locations such as Germany, California, Massachusetts, and Texas. These experiences have enriched her perspective and instilled in her a love for exploration. In her free time Selina enjoys being with family. She is a devoted mother to three sons and a proud grandmother to two grandchildren. Selina has 3 dogs: Fudge, Ivy and Dakota.

Monet Malek

Monet joined Antigua Veterinary Practice in July 2024 after relocating to Jacksonville from Roanoke, Virginia. A graduate of Ferrum College with a B.S. in Biology and Animal Sciences, Monet has a diverse background in animal care, with experience in shelter work, large animal rescue, and emergency medicine. Outside of work, Monet is a proud pet parent to two dogs, Marlie and Fig, a cat named Flea, and a bearded dragon named Sully. Passionate about animal welfare, Monet is excited to provide compassionate care and contribute to the health and well-being of your pets!

Amber Distefano

Born and raised in the heart of Central Florida, she’s a fourth-generation native and has a heart that beats for animals. From a young age, she’s had a natural pull toward animals of all kinds—rescuing, fostering, and giving them a second shot at a good life.

When she’s not working with animals, you’ll probably find her outside somewhere—hiking, camping, or just taking it all in with her sidekick Hank by her side. Life’s about love, purpose, and making every moment count… and she does all three with the people (and pets) she cares about most.

Julia Montalbano

Julia was born and raised in Bedford, New Hampshire and graduated from Saint Michaels College in Burlington, Vermont.

Julia started her animal career as a marine mammal trainer working with a variety of species including dolphins, otters, birds and sharks. Her love for dogs, especially her own two dogs, Willow (mini Australian Shepard) & Jax (yellow lab), brought her to the veterinary field.

Julia has set up roots in Saint Augustine with her husband Zack and her two kids, Maisy & Noah.

She loves spending time with her family at the beach, traveling to New England & listening to country music.

Alyssa Arrizola

Alyssa is originally from a very small town in Texas named Godley. From a young age she always had a unique fascination with the ocean. Alyssa received a degree in Marine Biology at Texas A&M (gig em). After graduating, she moved down to Key Largo where she began the first steps of her career as a marine mammal specialist. After living in the keys, Alyssa made her way up to St. Augustine where she worked as a full time Marine Mammal specialist caring for 15 Atlantic bottlenose dolphins for 6 years. During this time, she found a new love of the medical side of the job in which she decided to switch gears & join the veterinary world. She is extremely excited to learn & be part of the Antigua team! Alyssa has 2 pets, Dunkin, a seal point siamese and Honey, a red golden retriever. Outside of work, Alyssa spends most of her time at the beach with Honey, exploring different springs around Florida & practicing recreational photography!
